“Use whatever gifts you have received to serve others…” 1 Peter 4:10
The Biblical directive is clear. We are to serve others! Those who are members of Wyoming Church even took a vow when they joined the congregation “to faithfully participate in its ministries by our prayers, our presence, our gifts, and our service.”
So the question naturally arises, “How am I to serve the Lord? What ministry am I being called to?”
God has given each Christian two vitally important gifts. The first is the gift of forgiveness of our sins and eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ. The second is the gift of one or more special abilities, which are to be used for the growth of God’s kingdom.
To help you identify your gifts, we have provided a link to a spiritual inventory. http://www.elca.org/en/Our-Work/Congregations-and-Synods/Faith-Practices/Assessment-Tools. This inventory is first and foremost for individual use. It is taken anonymously. Take it on your own time at your own pace. Hopefully the inventory will help you to discern your gifts and begin to point you to or affirm you in the areas of service the Lord has equipped you for and called you to. If you wish to share the results with the pastoral staff, the nomination team, or a member of a ministry that fell you are being led to serve in, we encourage you to do so.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to take the inventory and prayerfully consider the results.
